About the Style

OK, HOPheads – get ready for our “Hopped-Up” IPA competition! Perfect for the warmer weather, we will be crafting IPAs with our own spin on the Hops used, and how they are incorporated!

The Competition

*This competition is for HOPs Club Members ONLY. We want everyone to start off with the identical malts & yeast – no additional malts or yeast can be incorporated. Then, we want you to put your own unique twist on your recipe by carefully selecting up to 4 ounces of hops, and incorporating them however you like! Bittering, Dry-Hop; YOU decide!

Here is how it will work:

1) Purchase a Base Kit – $25.00
This will include:
– All malts for the recipe, pre-milled and combined (2-row, Pale Malt, C-40)
– Fermentis Dry Yeast

2) Brewing Ingredient Kits will be distributed in the first week of May. All entries must be received by Friday, April 30th via this form. There will be awards issued for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place entries.

IPA "Hopped-Up" Competition

HOPs members - Enter the competition, and select your 4 ounces of hops to make a winning brew!
  • One Beer Per Entry Form.

    You must complete this entry form for EACH entry you wold like to be judged. You will then receive an email containing your Unique Entry Number, which needs to be Printed out and attached to your bottles with a rubber band when you turn in the entry.
  • ENTRY DETAILS:
    • This competition is open to HOPs Members only.
    • Each Entry must be registered on-line through the form located **below
    • Only non-commercially brewed beer
    • Must be 21 or older
    • Entry must be registered by November 16th, 2020
    • (2) 12 oz bottles per entry
    • No larger, flip-top, corked or wine bottles
    • De-label bottles, no writing on caps
    • Print TWO (2) COPIES of the entry confirmation received in your email, and Rubberband 1 tag to each bottle
    • Deliver the 2 bottles by Friday, Ma4 28th by 6pm.
    • Entries will be judged in a closed session
    • Judge sheets and awards will be issued following the completed judging.
  • ENTRY DROP-OFF:

    Drop-off dates:
    Thursday, May 27th to Friday, May 28th by 6pm - deliver your entries to Nocterra Brewing Co. or HOPs

  • Give the judges a SHORT description of your beer
  • General Categorization of your entry
  • Should total no more than 4 ounces of hops
